Childcare

There is currently a childcare shortage in Thompson.  Community Futures North Central Development (CFNCD) partners with Thompson Urban Aboriginal Strategy to coordinate a Home Daycare Project.  This project aims to increase the number of licensed home daycares in Thompson.

Resources and funding are available for people wanting to operate a home daycare. Contact CFNCD for more information at:

 

Past CFNCD childcare initiatives include:

  • preparation of the Juniper Pre-School and Kiddies Northern Daycare Business Plans
  • participation in Childcare Coalition of Manitoba Focus Groups and steering committee,
  • assistance to the Thompson Childcare Advisory Committee in applying for funding to build a new facility
  • preparation of the CVRD Inco childcare Advsiory Committee Feasibility Study,
  • preparation of new governance model for childcare in the North for the Childcare Coalition of Manitoba, and
  • assistance to UCN in developing the Early Childhood Education Level II program.
